Common opalizers are titanium oxide, tin oxide, zirconium oxide, antimony and its compounds, fluorine compounds and so on. Among them, titanium oxide has become the most commonly used whitening agent because of its good covering rate and whiteness, and high cost performance.
When titanium oxide (TiO2) is melted with enamel raw materials, it will completely dissolve to form a clear and transparent enamel frit. When enamel is fired, titanium oxide crystallizes to form Anatase or Rutile. When operating, the staff can properly control the ingredients and the heating and cooling process to obtain a white and highly reflective enamel frit.
Using titanium oxide as an opalescent agent has many advantages: extremely high reflectivity and whiteness, stability, strong coverage, strong acid resistance, easy operation, and reasonable price.
In addition to titanium oxide, tin oxide has very good performance, but because of its high price, it is used in high-end products and special frits, and sodium antimonate is suitable for casting white enamels because of its low melting point.
