The phenomenon, causes and solutions of many defects in steel enamel are also applicable to cast iron enamel. The following are the peculiar defects of cast iron enamel and their causes and solutions.

 

1. The reason for the formation of black matte foam and holes at a time

①Small blisters on the castings are poorly filled. ② Poor electric welding of larger sand holes on castings. ③The porcelain layer is too thick. ④ Overheating.

 

2. Causes of cracking of semi-melted white enamel

① The porcelain layer is too thick. ②Insufficient drying.

 

3. Reasons for the formation of bright enamel bubbles and holes

① There are many impurities in the casting (especially the position of the riser). ②Small blisters on the castings are not well filled. ③The casting has cold partition and many internal pores. ④ Defects of the ground coat layer have not been repaired. ⑤The ground coat layer is too thin or overfired. ⑥ The ground coat layer is contaminated. ⑦There are impurities in the enamel frit cover coat slurry. ⑧ Part of the casting is white (solution: the annealing temperature can be increased to 850 ℃). ⑨Insufficient annealing and inadequate shot blasting.

4. Causes of porcelain removal

① The ground coat is contaminated. ②The ground coat or the first cover coat is not completely dried. ③The ground coat is damaged, especially the edges. ④The white mouth area is larger. ⑤The casting has pores, cold barriers or slag inclusions. ⑥ There is too much difference in wall thickness, and excessive stress is generated during cooling.

 

5. Causes of heterochromia

① The color dry powder enamel is not wiped clean in the parts where there should be no color enamel. ②Gloves are stained with powder of different colors. ③The line blanket of the console liner has heterochromatic powder. ④ Too much different-color powder on the burning frame (solution: semi-finished products must not be sprayed on the transmission line). ⑤There is too much heterochromatic powder on the hook of the transmission line (solution: the hook needs to be shot blasted). ⑥ Insufficient drying of the workpiece bursts and collapses.

 

6. Reasons for the formation of watermark marks

①Water or sweat drips on the dry powder layer of the enamel (solution: do not dip the sponge in too much water). ②After the powder is dried, it is partially repaired with wet powder (solution: the dry powder must be sprayed as a whole after partial repair).
