Generally speaking, the firing temperature of enamel cover coat is 20~50 ℃ lower than that of enamel ground coat. If the ground coat melts too easily, it is likely to penetrate into the enamel cover coat during the firing process. In this case, the enamel cover coat will change color, and the enamel ground coat penetrates the cover coat to produce black spots and lines.

However, when the firing temperature of the enamel cover coat is too low, the surface of the enamel layer will be dull and sometimes blisters will occur. When the enamel cover coat is over-fired, the colored enamel may change color and the brightness will be impaired. For example, once the temperature of titanium enamel is not enough, it will appear blue. If it is fired too much, TiO2 will be precipitated into rutile, and the enamel will turn yellow. Then the gaseous state produced by the combustion of fuel, especially sulfur dioxide (SO2), will form a sulphate film on the surface of the utensils. Sometimes the utensils are stored for a long time because of contamination.

 

Because of the heating and deformation of the enamelware, the prototype can be restored by manual adjustment, but only when the body temperature is high, because the enamel frit is not hardened and not fragile at this time. In short, if various variables and equipment are used properly during firing, the deformation of the vessel can be avoided.

 

Whether it is an enamel ground coat or an enamel cover coat, the firing time is also very important. When the firing time is too short, even the combination of enamel frit at a suitable temperature will not be too good. On the contrary, when the firing time is too long, the iron oxide in the melt is saturated, and copper spots and other defects are prone to appear. There are many factors that affect the firing time of enamel frit, such as the size and shape of the metal body, the formula of the enamel frit, the size of the furnace and the accuracy of the temperature, and so on. Therefore, the firing time needs to be determined according to the specific enamel product, and the most suitable firing time needs to be adjusted.
